About the performance
Habitat is an immersive performance installation that invites the audience to experience various real and virtual spatial levels—and their inhabitation—from a perspective of their own choosing. Towering oak sculptures by artist Volker Schnüttgen, combined with a soundscape by Giorgio de Santis, form the overall space of the performance installation. Some of the wooden sculptures contain intimate interiors—each equipped with a monitor and a speaker—waiting to be discovered by the viewer. Using new technologies, a real-time connection is created between the sculptures and dancer Renate Graziadei, who moves within a clearly defined performance area inside the installation space. She responds to the live music of Giorgio de Santis and inhabits the sculptures’ virtual spaces—either individually or as a multiple clone. Fifteen years after its premiere, Habitat once again opens up a space of experience—where dance, sculpture, sound, and environment unfold as a multi-sensory journey.
After the performance, the installation remains open for two more hours—offering time to absorb the experience, reflect, and connect with the artists. The bar in the space invites you to continue the conversation and wind down the evening in a relaxed atmosphere.
